 WHO WE ARE

We are a collective of Black youth, students, adults, and elders in the Black Community of Sonoma County. As citizens of the County, we have mobilized out of feelings of pure discomfort and alienation in our own community. The much-needed dialogue around the community’s racist law enforcement, biased and inadequate educational structure, and discriminatory economic exclusion have not included our voices or leadership.

Media misinformation, co-opting of the Black Lives Matter movement’s platform by non-Black people, violent white supremacist agitators, looting and vandalism by a wide spectrum of people as a response to the socio-economic repression of late-stage American capitalism, and brutal police tactics toward protesters have created a local narrative that we must address. This movement is about us. Our voices and leadership should drive this movement and ensure it leads to tangible action to undo the systemic racism and white supremacist oppression in this County. While many are rightfully focused on recent grave injustices outside of Sonoma County, such as the horrific murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery, we must turn our focus to the deep issues in our own community. We will not be silent. We will not accept these conditions which have plagued and harmed Black Sonoma County residents for

generations, which have harmed Black people for 500 years, and which continue today.

Enough is Enough!
